May 20 Proclaimed ‘GenTX Day’ by leaders across the state to support students of Generation TX and celebrate higher education
On Friday, May 20, Texas will unite in celebration of GenTX Day - a day to celebrate the students of Generation TX (pronounced Generation Texas) and their plans for the future, with special recognition of the high school graduating class of 2011. Resolutions will be offered at the Texas Capitol, and mayors in markets such as Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, the Rio Grande Valley, El Paso and Corpus Christi are declaring May 20 as GenTX Day with official proclamations encouraging their communities to show their support for the students of Generation TX. DARKE | gallery transforms into ‘Wendy’s World’ for Wagner’s solo exhibition opening May 13
Wendy Wagner will present some of her most recent works in a solo exhibition at DARKE | gallery entitled “Once Uponse a Time in the Land of O-Poppida...” Both floors of the gallery will transform into “Wendy’s World” with paintings, prints, ceramics, installation art and animation displayed. Texas Yoga Association plans mass yoga class on Austin’s State Capitol lawn as they rally against regulation
Over 1,500 Texans have signed a petition sponsored by the Texas Yoga Association (TYA) to pass House Bills No. 1839 by Representative Phillips and 2167 by Representative Murphy that aim to keep government from regulating yoga. In support of moving the bills through legislation, the TYA invites yoga enthusiasts, state representatives and anyone who supports the future of health and wellness to practice yoga together on the Southeast corner of the Texas State Capitol lawn at Congress and 11th Street. House Representative Eddie Lucio III will lead other representatives and staff to meet the yoga enthusiasts in promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and musician David Berkeley will be flying in from Atlanta to perform at the peaceful demonstration. Texas Yoga Conference comes to Houston

Tom Berg opens at Wade Wilson Art

Generation TX San Antonio Launches with the “Rock Your Future GenTX Fest”
Generation TX San Antonio will kick off the new year with an inaugural event encouraging ninth grade students to begin preparing for college. The “Rock Your Future GenTX Fest” will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Alamo Convocation Center located at 110 Tuleta Street, San Antonio, TX 78212. A red carpet will greet approximately 3,000 Bexar County ninth grade students, parents, teachers, and local community leaders as they come together for an afternoon of inspiration and learning. The event is hosted by Generation TX San Antonio, a local organization committed to making San Antonio a college-going and career-ready community in a single generation.

Red Bull Illume: Discovery Green in Downtown Houston
Red Bull Illume is pleased to announce its Opening Night, hosted by skateboarding sensation and X-Games champion Ryan Scheckler. Jill Moser: Editions – Artist Reception
Wade Wilson Art is pleased to announce Jill Moser’s Editions, the artist’s first exhibit in Houston to focus solely on her collaborative edition and print work. Moser’s first book called The Introvert, will be featured with several of her recent print projects. The Introvert, a hand-painted artist book, is scheduled to coincide with the debut of Marion Cage’s jewelry display, Lettres. Moser will also be collaborating with master printer Jonathan Wise on a series of Hand in Glove prints. The exhibit will remain on view until January 4, 2011.

Impulse Artist Series: 2010 Alter Ego Season
Jade Simmons and the Impulse Artist Series are proud to present the 2010 season of performances. Each concert will feature music from various genres, revealing the melodic ‘Alter Egos’ of each performing artist.
